Okay, i purchased an o2 simulator from o2simulator.com because i've installed headers and a y-pipe for my 2003 nissan maxima, so there for i have no use for my o2sensors since i took off my pre-cats and its throwing me a SES. Now i put in the simulator and started up my car it worked fine and the green LED light on the sim was blinking slowly, so i figured it was working, but then the light turned off. I never reset the ECU prior to starting the car. Well long story short, my sim had stopped blinking once i taped up the wires with electrical tape. I removed the tape making sure the wires did not come apart which they did not. How do i know my sim is working? is the led light suppose to stay on, blink, or turn off after a while, or did i just get a bad sim. please help. My ses light is still on since i never reseted my ecu and i drove my car around for a bit to see if it turned on but it hasn't yet. moreOpen Question: can i get some pre-16th birthday help here. please?

I left my car in my garage for 5 years without using it. I took it to the mechanic today to get it running again. He charged me $700 for cleaning out the gas tank, replacing the feul pump (with a generic pump, not the name brand pump), cleaning out the fuel lines, and replacing the battery. Also, I will be going tomorrow to another mechanic and spending $300 to replace all the fluids in the car (a 30k which includes coolant, transmission fluid, brake fluid, power steering fluid, oil and the filters). Should I get the fluids changed for this price? The car (Nissan Quest mini van) was in perfect condition when I parked it. It is a 97 Nissan Quest. Mileage on car is 58,000 moreVoting Question: 1995 nissan 240sx. a new battery in and had the starter tsted. It will not start without a jump & loses charg?

-------Read from the bottom first-------- I'm sorry to disappoint you but the car is already at the shipping company in Denver, Colorado sealed and ready for the shipping. I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. I'm very busy with my job and I'm getting off the town so I can't meet in person with you so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the internet. According with the eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not. If you want to buy it please email me your full name and address for shipping so I can initiate the transaction through eBay. I'm 15 turning 16 soon and i'm considering buying a 2008 nissan altima coupe v6. My parent's friends just bought a brand new 2008 altima coupe v6 and hardly use it and offered when i turn 17 that i would be able the get the car. i've done research about the car, but i need a second opinion on the subject. the car only has 17,000 miles on it. moreVoting Question: What car would you pick and why?
Lexus IS 300 Nissan 350z Infiniti G35 Subaru WRX STI Mitsibishi Evo (8 or 9, not really a fan of the 10) BMW 325 Acura RSX Or any other cars in the $20,000 or under used price range?Preferably over 200 Horsepower. (U-joints)?
I have to replace the drive shaft in my nissan 240sx ('93) and I am looking to buy one from a junk yard. What I would like to know is: What can I check, or look for, to tell if the u-joints are in good or bad shape? I will have to do it with the drive shaft off of the car. I know that it might be hard to tell because the torque that I can put on it is nothing compared to what my car will put on it, but any tips would be appriciated. I would like to buy a used one if at all possible, because a new one is around 400 dollars. Thanks for any help in advance. Thanks bobweb, but my model of Nissan has a drive shaft with U-joints that are not meant to be replaced. Instead of having "pins" by the u-joint, mine has solid metal pieces with rounded off tops. Everywhere that I have called has said that they have to replace the whole thing. I have heard that it "can" be done if you have a press, but I heard most shops won't do it and it is a pain to do your self. Any other ideas? Or have you heard different? I have been told that my front U-joint is bad but it cannot be replaced without replacing the whole thing. moreResolved Question: Is it ok to have your mechanic check over a used car before you buy?
My dad was looking at a 2008 Nissan versa with about 16,000 miles for me (cost a total 7850.00 with everything included). He is out of the country but he said he thinks its a good car etc. The only problem is the seller of the car. We have had shaky dealings with him in the past. My dad said the only reason he reccomended it to me because it was so new. I take my car to this other shop and i trust them. If i like the car i would want them to check over the car to see what problems it may have. How do i go about doing that? Is it okay to do that? I wouldnt feel safe buying it unless it is physically checked over beforehand. Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance. moreVoting Question: Buying, insuring, financing salvage title vehicle...?
I found an '08 Nissan Frontier with low miles that I would like to buy. However, it has a salvage title. A shop here in the city where I live has rebuilt the truck and it looks beautiful and has been cleared by the state to hit the road. The guy who rebuilt the truck says it had a front/side impact causing the driver's airbag to deploy. I have a few questions about this vehicle. 1. I've seen a carfax before, but IIRC, they don't specify the type of damage to the vehicle. Is there any way to find out exactly what had happened to this truck? 2. Will I be able to insure this vehicle? 3. While it's a salvaged truck, I would still need a loan of a few thousand dollars to buy the truck. Will banks loan money for this vehicle? If not a car loan could I get any loan for this? 3. I know if you buy a new or used car this year you can get a tax break. Does this still apply to a car that has a slavae title? Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: What car should I get? I have a $25,000 budget for a Ford, Honda, and Nissan.?
I'm looking at Civic ex-l (Maybe SI) and Sentra SE-r (maybe specV). I am used to auto and i wanna ask does manual get annoying? That is my concern. If so what car in that budget do u recommend? moreResolved Question: down the day after, what should I do?
Hi! I bought a car and it overheated and broke down the next day. So now I haven't used it anymore, cuz I'm afraid it will overheat and blow it completly. This car is a nissan pulsar 97'. I bought it for 2.500, and there is no warranty because of the age. But I read that a dealer needs to comply with this :"The Fair Trading Act requires that a dealer selling a vehicle ensures that the vehicle matches any description given and that it is of “merchantable quality”. that means that it has to work allright for normal use. So I don't wnat them to fix it, I just want my money back, cuz they could trick me again. So does anyone know anything about the laws about second hand cars in WA - australia??? I took that bit from this website: http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au/ConsumerProtection/PDF/Publications/MV_DoIHaveToFixIt.pdf Thanks moreResolved Question: Nissan Altima 2002 interior rear view mirror replacement - reuse temperature sensor?
Hi, I have a Nissan Altima 2002. The interior rear view mirror has gone bad - the fluid inside has leaked partially. The mirror gives glare & double images and therefore it needs to be replaced. I bought the replacement mirror online (999L1-UR001 NISSAN ALTIMA 2002-2006; Factory OEM Auto-Dimming Mirror. w/Compass & Temp. Gauge) . It has come with detailed instructions, which include installing a new temperature sensor. I am wondering if I can use the already installed temperature sensor (which is working fine). Can I do that??? Maybe with just some sort of an adapter. I would like to do that, rather than going the whole way and replacing the temp. sensor too, which involves opening up many more parts of the car and threading the wire through numerous holes. Thanks very much. moreResolved Question: Im looking for a cool looking sports car thats fairly cheap used. Around 5000 dollars.?

Is Skyline GTR VIII a great choice? moreResolved Question: My Nissan Pulsar Plus Is overheating, what could it be?
Hi! I love cars, but I'm hopeless as a mechanic. I just bought my first car. A nissan Pulsar Plus (hatchback) 16 valve twin cam. It's overheating very badly! In a 5 min drive it goes from cold to the medium of the heat gauge. And in a 20 -25 min drive it pass a lot the Hot Level. I just bought it 2 days ago. On day 1 it was fine, I didn't drive much at all. on day 2 when I drove it to work 25 min drive, it was raining, and when I stopped the car at work, I saw water vapor coming out of the hood, I was scared and I opened the hood. I thought the engine was hot and it was evaporating the water from the rain. On my way back home, another 25 min drive. It overheated pretty badly! Before I got home it was way over the hot level. And I was running out of petrol too. when I went to turn into my street, I noticed that the power steering stopped working, and I thought: shit, another problem! and than 20 meters after, my engine stalled (it's an automatic, so it scared the shit out of me) and and 3 minutes before this happened I could hear (I thought it was at least) the pistons in engine going up and down the engine like it had no oil in it, like metal hiting against metal). So here was me will the emergency lights on pushing my car for another block (at least it didn't happend in the freeway). I got home, I opened the hood again, let it cool down, it took a good 45 minutes to an hour. The fans were working at the maximum, and It was pretty hot! I threw some water in the engine and it evaporated at the same time. Than I checked the oil level, to see if it was low, because of the piston's noise I heard. the oil was full. So I waited and opened the radiator lid and I put some water in it! I've put 3 shocking liters of water in it! I thought I found my problem. When I had it filled up with water I went to put some petrol in it, So I drove, yeah, I haven't ran out of fuel, was almost on empty, but I don't think I used the fuel reserve. So I filled it up. And next morning when I drove it again for five minutes the heat level reached almost half, and some water vapor came out of the engine again. I might have spilled some water on the engine and radiator before I left home that morning when I was checking for a water or colling fluid liquid. I didn't find any. On the TOP of the engine I found some green liquid, which I belive was colling fluid (this was still at the dealership) but there was no roses running on top of the engine where I found the liquid, so I believe it was spilled when it was last refilled. So, I have no oil, water or colling fluid leak and my fans are working damm well! What could it be? Rust in the radiator blocking Can u guys please help me? Thanks a lot! No, I don't think the running out of gas there was sth to do with the heating, but maybe with the engine stopping and the power steering too. But I don't think it was, cuz later on I managed to start the engine again. Thanks for the answers, and yeah, I'll tallk with the dealer to see what can be done! moreResolved Question: Nissan Maxima 2000 transmission question?
Well I don't feel the transmission skipping or don't have any problems with it. But I want to know how often should i change it since I got the car used and have driven it about 18k miles in a year and don't know if i should change or not. I have checked the dipstick n it looks fine not burnt out or anything of that sort. I feel the need to change it because when I gun the car meaning pressing the accelerator all the way when i bought it used to change gears quickly and its just not the same anymore. Should I really change the oil or not?........Btw the maxima does have 168,000 miles, which could be the reason for the slow changing of gears when I gun the car. And also how much would a regular transmission oil change cost. Thanks in advance for the replies moreVoting Question: How do I beat Darius on need for sped carbon on the PS2?

I am looking for any kind of used Volkswagen Beetle. I have a car from a long time ago that is just sitting in my driveway. It is worth about 3,000 dollars, which is not that great. I want to find a used beetle that is anywhere from $2,000 to $4,000 with reasonable mileage. I am trying to trade in my old Nissan Maxima because i am tired of it just sitting in my driveway and i want to replace it with a car that i will actually drive. Also, I want to find a beetle that is in Georgia or anywhere near it. I have searched and searched and I can not find one! Does anyone know where I can get a cheap used beetle?? Also, I would like the links to real dealerships, not craig's list and crap like that. moreVoting Question: Jeep Wrangler recommended as an everyday car?
I'm going today to look at different pre-owned cars, and a jeep wrangler and a nissan titan is on my list. I rode in a wrangler last night with the doors off last night...LOVED IT. But could i use it as an everyday car? I have in the back of my head that it should only be a 'fun' car, as in driving it on weekends, putting BIG tires on it, etc. I drive 50-60 miles round trip from work everyday and seem to think it's too much for a wrangler. I just love the freedom of the wrangler, taking the doors, roof and windows out. I have a 99 explorer now with over 200k miles on it, and even if i have good AC and its 90 degrees outside...i'm still gonna have my windows down, cause that's how i am...love beeeeing free!! ha... moreVoting Question: Grinding Noise with Aftermarket Remote Start?
I had a Commander remote start installed on my 09 Nissan Rogue. When I was shown how to use the starter, one of the times it started the car made a grinding noise. I was told this is because of some kind of teeth. I guess it doesn't happen all the time b/c the teeth don't always end up in the same place every time. Supposedly this happens b/c I have an intelligent key system (no key needs to be inserted to drive, etc). Does this sound normal? Will the grinding eventually ruin something? FYI-It was Nissan-installed starter. TIA moreResolved Question: Looking for a used wagon CHEAP!?

I had a 1998 Honda Civic with all Sony in it and it was hitting GREAT. I sold my car the amp /subs/ and box. I recently bought a 2005 Nissan Altima and went all Sony again but this time I bought an after market double din unit (XO Vision). I have an amp for my speakers -Sony XM-554ZR and they sound lovely, but the subs don't hit hard like they used to in the Civic. Do I need to get a bigger amp or louder subs (should i stay with 12's or move up to 15's?) or just sell both? I am on a budget (economic times) and need ideas on what to do. Please help. moreResolved Question: Road Trip Coming Up. Is my car safe?
I plan on taking a road trip from Los Angeles to Boston and back. My car is a 95' Nissan Pathfinder. It is a trooper of a car. However, I found out that the water pump was not working well and was leaking water. Almost every other day, I have to refill the coolant with water...almost a whole Poland Spring gallon bottle. The car has only smoked once because I didn't know the car had that problem. But now I know, I fill it up with water and watch the temperature in the car dash to make sure it never goes to the red. Right now with my trip, I am short on cash. And i've been using it for the past month like this to get around...there hasn't been any problem. I can't spare the 600 dollars that apparently is needed to fix it. Can I just go on my trip like this? Or will driving for that long affect the car causing me to have a break down. I plan on stopping at every gas station or stop I come across to fill it back up with water. moreResolved Question: nissan sentra engine oil dipstick problem?
Recently, the engine oil dipstick in my 2003 Nissan sentra gxe fell deep into the tube because the top "loop" broke off. After using the superglue trick to pull it back up using a pencil...I now am in need of a fix or replacement engine oil dipstick. Does anyone know if older Nissan sentras or some other cars with same dipsticks that could work, so maybe I could find one at a junkyard? Or if anyone else have any ideas? such as how to fix the dipstick (I lost the loop part) ? I know that the dealerships should have some, but I would only pay the premium(I think it's around $16) as a last resort... Thanks. moreResolved Question: Why do so many people choose a nissan 350z for a street car and modify its performance over others?
Why is the 350z chosen to be used in competitions, and to make them look nice with kits and modify the engines with after market parts over all the other cars they could be spending money on? moreResolved Question: Healthcare & Conservatives?
Conservatives & healthcare My question is to conservatives in regards to healthcare. What problems do you have with a single payer(government program). I hear two main arguments that contradict each other. First, I they say it sucks. Long waits for doctors & medical procedures. "Illegal Aliens" from Canada are coming down here for our medication(yet are ranked way above our paltry 37th standing). Second, if we introduce a government plan it would draw too many people away from the healthcare plans that are in existence. "Why would somebody pay for something they can get for free?". Which is it? Because nobody would leave a good healthcare plan for a "piece of crap" plan even if it is free. If your in the market for a car & can afford a brand new Mercedes Benz(less than 1,000 miles) why would you buy a used Nissan Sentra with 100,000 miles?(no disrespect to Nissan) But you wouldn't. And I'm sure the Benz dealership wouldn't mind the used Nissan dealership next door because said person who can get the Benz probably isn't going to say "Before i give you this $75k in cash, let me go see what used Nissan I might want." Even if it does, I'll bet it wont happen at such a rate that the Benz dealership will have to close its doors. In fact the only reason that Benz would be threatened is if the built up a reputation for over charging, or declining to fix cars under warrantee("THAT ISN'T COVERED" sound familiar?). Much like those dealerships healthcare ironically will be more like the free market we all know & love if we implement a govt. run healthcare. Because if independent insurance providers do deny payment or refuse to cover a person with a pre-existing illness that person jumps ship & tells their friends and family to do the same. Hello all! I have a problem with a Nissan Micra 2003 2.1V. It has only recently become a problem as I have just stopped using it everyday as I have changed jobs. The battery is being drained over a period of about one week. Before when i was driving it during the week it was absolutely fine over weekends and things but as I am not using it so often this problem has become apparent. I have changed the battery and that had made no difference. I have also switched things off in the car such as the radio and interior light so they can't flick on somehow and there is still a problem! All it needs is a jump start to get going and it is absolutely fine! I really love car! I have also had a mechanic come to look at it who couldnt find a drain from the battery (testing it with an ammeter) so it seems that something is kicking in when it is off and draining the battery!? It is now completely dead and I will have to use the key to get in! I have heard that micras have a relatively common problem where the computer is coming on randomly and draining the battery- anyone know how i might be able to fix that possible problem? or restart the computer somehow? Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Thank you! The test done by the mechanic was removing the fuses and seeing if the was a drain using an ammeter when the car was off, this showed no drain. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is the problem the Alternator or the Battery?
My car is not starting and I am not sure what the issue is. This is a weird set of events so ill try and provide all the details... Some background. I just bought a used 2004 Nissan Sentra about a year ago. About a month after buying it there were random times where it didnt start. I talked to a friend and he said it sounded like it was the battery. So I went and bought a new battery and kept it around until my friend came back into town (he works out of time a couple days out of the week) before I installed to be sure I even needed to waste the money on a new battery. When he came back he said I didnt need to buy the battery because it was just the corrosive stuff around the posts of the battery. He cleaned it off and I havent had any problem until now. I decided to keep the new battery around just in case there were future issues with the battery and I would have a back up. I kept it in my trunk for about a day until i could get to my brothers house and store it in his garage. When I did get to my brothers house I figured out the battery had tipped over and some of the liquid in the battery had seeped out. I didnt think it was a big deal so I left it at my brothers. The new battery I purchased had been at my brothers house about 8 months. The recent events: I live in San Francisco and was visiting family in Sacramento which is about 100 miles away. On the drive to Sac about 30 miles away I stopped to get gas. When I went to turn my car on it didnt start. i checked the battery and there was another build up of stuff on the posts. I cleaned it off and the car started fine. Immediately when I got to my brothers house, which is where I stay when I am out here, I turned my car on and off a couple of times to see if would start which it did. Skip to a day later when I had this feeling to check and see if my car was still good before I drove back to San Francisco. When I tried it would not start. I tried to jump my car and it wouldnt work so I thought maybe the battery is just dead. So I installed the battery I purchased and used distilled water to top off the liquid that had spilled out from before, tried to jump and it didnt work. It just made a couple of clicking sounds and I could tell it was trying to start. I made some calls to friends and I was told that it is because the battery has been sitting for so long and it lost its charge. They advised I let the jumper charge it for awhile and then try and start it. That worked. I unhooked the cables drove around the parking lot for about 5 minutes and then parked. Since I knew the lights drew alot of power from the battery I turned it on to see what happened. Right when I turned the lights on it died. So I let the jumpers sit there for awhile and then tried to start my car and got it to turn on. This time I just left my car on and left the cables attached to the battery for about 20 minutes. Then I unhooked the cables and let the car run thinking the alternator would be charger it. After about 10 minutes the car just shut off. Now I am just confused what the problem is. Here are my reasons for thinking its the batter: - The liquid spilled out and it has been sitting in a garage for a long time (but why did the old battery lose its charge?) - It might not be holding a charge which explains why the car shut off when it was idling - When I tried to jump it, it doesnt immediately turn on Why I think it could be th alternator: - the car turned off while it was idling which I think could be a sign that it isnt charging the battery - I was able to drive to Sac after it stopped at the gas station, if it was the battery wouldnt it have shut off? - When I got to Sac it started when I checked to see if it would turn on. The next day it didnt work, Also, I was able to drive around for those 5 minutes with no problems until I turned the lights on so I think maybe its not charging. Any thoughts or advice is greater appreciated! moreResolved Question: Is this an ok used truck?
