Open Question: Police officers and stereotyping?

Today I received my second ticket for no front license plate, I hadn't put it on after I got my bumper fixed. Now this isn't the problem, the problem is that this cop was being completely disrespectful to me from the beginning. Now I drive a bright colored car and it comes stock looking kind of fast. But this cops was stereotyping me. He came up to me and on top of being disrespectful he was saying things like "you look like you street race, and I don't know if I can believe you" It was even more of the tone he used in his voice when he said it. Now isn't this a form of stereotyping? I don't street race and actually I drive very responsibly. And if this is stereotyping, isn't that almost a form of racism. Not based on the color of my skin, but who I am. I was being very respectful when he pulled me over. I was going 4 under the limit. I rolled my windows down and kept my hands on the steering wheel until he asked me to get my registration. I answered all his question with "Yes sir" and " No sir" and not with any attitude. Very respectful, right? I just feel this is uncalled for and I shouldn't have to deal with this. Although it won't do anything, I feel like I should file a complaint. These are the people we are suppose to trust and look up to, but how could I possibly do that? I've had a lot of bad experiences with police officers and I'm sick and tired of it. What do you think I should do? And am I just full of it or was this uncalled for? more

Open Question: repairing rusted wheel arch?

hello, I have been doing up an old Escort which has a servery rusted rear wheel arch. i have very little experience with body panels and what can and can't be done. I was hoping that it wasn't going to be to bad but I had to grind away almost an inch away in places to get to metal. Obviously I know that I can have a new panel welded on, but the cost is going to be high as I can't get it to a garage as it has no engine at mo. Is there anything else I can use? Is body filler/fiberglass ok to use or is this an MOT failure, though I imagine it would be quite tricky. Any advice would be a great help. A jury also ordered Rodriguez to pay a $10,000 fine. Rodriguez was arrested Feb. 28 following a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Front and Lyons streets. Open Question: I have a blew a fuse so bad that my fuse just falls out now I have to replace the whole thing, I think?

I have a 1997 ford f-150 flareside 3 door rear wheel drive 4.6l v8. I was installing a new cd player in my truck. While undoing old wires from the old deck, i accidently touched a wire to the antenna wire, oops! I blew a fuse so bad doing that, that the fuse, when inserted will not hold in there. I have no power to the deck because of it, I rigged it around the fuse straight from the battery so at least I have some music. I took the power and battery and hooked them together. I don't know how I feel about them. I mean I love to ride them, but I don't know if I want my child too. I've seen what they can do to people. I have seen what happens when a reckless driver tries to make a jump he knows he can't make and gets banged up and almost dies (handle bar ripped his gut) And as much as I enjoy them I just don't know if I want my child on them. My baby isn't even born yet, I'm still in the first trimester. But at his grandfathers house there is a lot of 4 wheeling, and horses (barely broke horses) that are ridden. And I'm scared one day it will come up "Mommy can I ride the ATV or Mommy can I ride the horse?" Or not even that, it will happen behind my back. Open Question: Why did I faint? Its never happened before!!?

I'm a pre-med student and I've been volunteering in the hospital for almost 4 years now. I've seen bloody guts, people throwing up blood, minor surgeries, and 2 circumcisions. Today, I was working in the Mother Baby Unit in the nursery observing a circumcision on a baby (which I have seen before) and out of no where I faint! and, according to the nurses around me I had minor seizures? This freaked me out because I've never fainted before or seized, I'm totally fine with seeing surgeries and blood, and I had breakfast. The only things I can think of are that I was dehydrated (I don't drink as much as I should) and that my knees may have been locked while standing. But, yeah it was the weirdest thing. I felt a little dizzy and then next thing i knew, 4 people were standing over me, invading my personal space for sure, and I was lying on the floor. Thank goodness my head hit the trash can because I have no injuries =). Then, after sitting down for a few minutes, and being wheeled to the ER, which they told me I should be fine, I went right back to work for the next 4 hours.. I just dont know why I fainted Oh, I am also just getting over a cold more

Why do most adults act so juvenile, immature and silly? They act worse than a child or teenager! They do drugs, get drunk, fight each other, drive drunk. What the? It just blows my mind. These are the people our children and teens have to look up to? These juvenile adults are teaching our children and teenagers how to be adults or how adults should be acting in society? Most adults are selfish, childish, brainless, stingy, greedy, self-centered, uncaring...need I go on? You try to get out of a parking lot, and maybe one real human will let you through, because one more car in front of you might do permanent damage to you, so you cannot let anyone get in front of you, because it’s fatal! Are these the people we want our children to look up to? Are these the people we want our children to grow up to be? We all need to reassess our thought process and our actions. What has happened to our adults? Are there just too many people in this world? Why does it take a tragedy to bring everyone together? Why can’t we always be together? We all have our own thoughts, beliefs, feeling, ideas, wants, needs, etc...But we can still act like humans instead of animals! Can’t we? Examples #1: driving in your car, someone jumps in front of you without a blinker, you honk, flip them the finger, rant, rave, cuss them out. Why? One car in front of you does you damage, causes you pain, kills you? Maybe it hurts your pride? Oh yeah, you didn’t give them permission to get in front of you, so now you somehow feel cheated! If we didn’t have people like that the line of cars on the roads and highways would be endless...so we need those “jerks” in our lives. Examples #2: standing in a line, someone tries to cut in front of you, you rant and rave, get ugly with them. Why? Maybe they didn’t realize you where there! I have made that mistake myself. Examples #3; your child gets into a fight, so you go and try to beat up the kid who hit your kid? Really? Why? Does it really make you feel bigger, better or more bad than you already are? Examples #4; you go to a party, drink too much, and then you get behind the wheel and drive! Would you want you child to do that? Then why did you do it? “Monkey see...monkey do” what do our children attempt to do, the same stupid crap they see adults do, who do our children have left to look up to, a silly juvenile clown called you! It’s time to grow up people and stop being so immature! We all need to be there for all the children in this world, and not just our own. After all; “it takes a whole village to raise a child.” A selfless, smart, giving, caring, open, honest, kind, good, clean, disciplined...human child! Can anyone help me to understand all of this? I don't want to try and change people, because I am human myself, and I do make my own mistakes as well. I just want people to stop and think about what they’re doing and who they might be hurting with their selfish actions and reactions. They need to stop and think before they leap or react. Do we not teach this to our own children? We all need to “practice what we preach!” Find out what’s going on, before we react to any situation, instead of snapping like a snake. By the way, I don’t believe that people can ever change. I believe that they can mature. Or at least some can anyway. I firmly believe that we are who we are, or ever will be, from the moment of conception, but we can all mature, and grow, and attempt to be better people. Can’t we? Do you think or believe this may be possible? No, it doesn’t make them automatic role models, but do children or teens think that way? Most children and teens see every adult as an automatic role model, because most are taught to respect their elders! Plus, their brains aren’t wired like an adult’s brain. They have not lived long enough to determine or distinguish what’s right from wrong, so when they see any adult acting like a fool or immature, it immediately enters into their database as being alright. They think...”well, if an adult did it like that” or “handled the situation this way” or “reacted like that to the situation”...”then it must be alright!” Is it really so hard for an adult to act like one? Resolved Question: Right Rear tire went bald first?

Okay, so, I drive a 2004 Toyota Camry LE V6, which is front wheel drive. I have 225/50R17 BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires all around. And for some reason, my REAR tires are losing their tread MUCH faster than the front tires (Particularly my Right Rear tire). If I had to give a percentage on the rear tires. Right Rear 5% tread left Left Rear 15% tread left I already ordered new tires and Ill be getting them put on tomorrow so, dont worry about my safety. And yes, I do rotate my tires regularly and all that typical stuff. My guess would be that I would need to get a 4 wheel alignment or something of that sort? It doesnt make sense!!!!!! Oh, I WAS rear-ended a few months back (and everything was supposedly fixed)... could that have possibly messed up my alignment? I dont know, cause its been brought to the dealership for routine maintenance and they have never made it an issue that something was... out of place or damaged. Thoughts? more

I was checking out a wheel problem on my rear passenger side wheel, so after I dropped the car back down from it being jacked up, it's maybe 3-4 inches higher than it was. The drivers side, I have maybe three fingers clearance between the tire and wheel well. The other side, I have a whole fists' clearance. I tried to push it down, and I have a loud creaking noise. The wheel bearing is bad on that side, so maybe it's related? I have no idea. It's a 2002 Ford Focus SVT. Pushing on it just makes it creak, suspension still works, it's just stuck 4 inches or so higher. I doubt it's bad struts, I checked for the symptoms of this, and none were really there in this case. Never had issues with the suspension in the back until I dropped the car back down. more

Open Question: Tips on fighting "Following Too Closely" citation in court?

I got court in 5 days, I rear ended a driver and the driver called the cops, I got a following too closely citation which I chose to attend court to explain the details in hopes to get if off my record. Details of Accident: Accident occurred on the highway at 35 MPH before i hit the brakes. I was at least 4 car lengths behind the driver in front of me. The driver in front of me slammed on the car breaks and swerved off the road onto the left shoulder. as to not hit the car in front of her, and left her right rear exposed. My front left headlight area hit her rear right area. Her behavior was very sudden and confusing, my instincts said she was going completely off onto the shoulder, well i was wrong. When i slammed on my breaks I slid all the way into her car, wheels were locked up and I feel I did my best in the situation. Apparently there was a light shower prior to my presence and I had not known this nor was there obvious evidence that there was a thin layer of water on the asphalt. She called the cops for some reason, I have no idea why. The damage done to her vehicle was nonexistent to my perception, perhaps a scratch or two that i was unable to locate. My headlight, fender and hood got a bit crumpled up because my vehicle was lower than hers so her bumper slid over mine. Had our vehicles been level i doubt any damage would have occurred. I was able to fully replace all parts at the out of pocket cost of 125$. Calling the cops was not necessary as the cops only have to be called if the total damage done exceeded 700$ in the state of Washington. Are there any tips on fighting my case in court, paying the 175$ following too closely citation doesn't bother me, I just don't want this incident on my record to save me in the long run for insurance costs. more

so i'm planning on purchasing a longboard but i have a few questions: 1. Should I get a longboard or skateboard? I've never done either one 2. Where is the best place to purchase a board at an affordable price for a beginner???? (I've never been skateboarding or longboarding in my life, so i don't want a board that's too expensive if i'm not even good. Plus i only want a board for transportation purposes) 3. Open Question: Power steering. What's wrong with it?

1997 V6 4 wheel drive Toyota.Pump started squealing.Drove it for about a year.One day it would not work when motor was idling.Rev it up it worked fine.Replaced the pump with a rebuilt one.Same thing.Was told it was the rack and pinion that had went bad.Replaced it with a rebuilt one. Same problem.What would be the most likely problem.Did I buy a defective pump? Or was it the rebuilt rack and pinion that was defective? Or is it something else entirely? Resolved Question: how can i upgrade the "look" of the wheels on my new ford focus cheaply?

I have no idea what the correct terms or anything are for this topic because Im a girl, so bare with me :) Im hoping some car-knowledgeable people can help me! I just bought a brand new 2009 Ford Focus SE. I love everything about its looks - except the wheels. I wish they were bigger, or at the very least, I wish the metal part in the center was more "filled in". Im including the link to the four available "models" of the 2009 Focus that are available.. I was disappointed because of all the 4 models, the "SE" has the wheels that I like the LEAST. I even liked the wheels on the base "S" model better, but I really wanted the power locks and windows so I couldnt go with the S model. Open Question: Weird things keep happening to me. Any ideas why?

So basically for the past month strange occurrences have been happening to me. Now I am not superstitious, but it's beginning to get on my nerves. I will tell you whats been happening: 1. A good friend of mine tries to kill herself, I find her almost dead. 2. On my way to LA, on the plane my family and I almost die. The flight is VERY turbulent and at one point is falling through the sky. My mom hurt herself. 3. While on the same trip my sister and I get stuck underground during an earthquake. 4. On the way home, right before we land my cat died. She wasn't that old and seemed pretty healthy. 5. I got fired later that week. 6. Again I get stuck, this time on a ferris wheel right as it starts storming and lightening. 7. I am at a movie and I get a call telling me my good friend has had a severe seizure. 8. Just yesterday I was driving home with my family, we were on the highway and my window shatters all over me. I have a bunch of cuts on my arms and back. Now this is whats happened, just in a month. So anyone have an ideas? Am I unlucky or something?? Edit: Also, people keep saying they don't believe this happened. But what reason would I have to make all this up. And as for being a possible 'troll', I have never really needed to use Yahoo Answers for anything other than this, because it is actually very troubling. So its fine if you don't believe me or think I am a troll, but you would probably do the same if all this happened to you. And I never said the earthquake was 'damaging', I simply said there was one. There are a lot of earthquakes in Cali, they don't have to be disastrous. Just wanted to add this, so I can stop getting posts that don't help me. Thanks to everyone that did though. Open Question: Cant find info on these wooden folding tv trays that go inside this oak table.?

I have this small table with two leafs that come up to make a full table. inside or under it has 4 wood tv trays. I got it at a garage sale. I want to see what they are worth. I can not find anything like them on my computer search. I find oak tv trays on a small frame that they just slide off. Like at Target. But this looks like a very nice table when leafs are up and the trays are inside a squared frame that you can see them under the table. It has wheels also. This is solid wood sort of heavy. Open Question: Weird noise from rear right wheel...?

Just had my rear brakes/rotors replaced at pep boys, maybe 3-4 weeks ago. the sound started off as a rubbing noise from the rear right wheel, this was maybe a week ago. Today around dinnertime there was a minor rythmic bumping from that wheel, about 8 hours later, sounded like a freight train and the car was violently pulling to the right. Someone told me it could be the brake caliper frozen, or something to that effect. But I'm just concerned I'm going to loose a wheel and kill myself or someone else... It's also making a minor squeaking noise, and I drove 1/4 mile to little ceasers today and it was kind bumpy on that back wheel. The tire is 100% inflated to what it should be so it isn't that. The problem seems to go away when the brakes are applied, of course that could be due to slowing down. Brakes are quiet and sound like they should when applied, minus that noise that's bascally always there. more

I'm 35.5 weeks pregna, baby is 6.3 lbs by U/S, and baby is breech forever now. I'm high risk(3 miscarriages, 1 live with preeclampsia), failed first diabetic test and never went for my 2nd. At 35 weeks should I go for a 4 hour diabetic test? I was 149, 9 points off for the 1st. Midwife (RN) says I should drive & get it done. Should I? Only way I reach pedal in 2009 honda civic, even early in pregnancy is sitting real close, and propped up. Airbag would deploy, baby's head to close to steering wheel. I rather take 1 hour at this point to see chiroprator to unbreech baby than worry about a 9 point off test. I've had contstant back pain and braxton hicks. Midwife says she won't check for dilation due to previous vaginal delivery and that she won't be able to really tell. And they will not preform a external version, (manuelly move baby) at 37 weeks although I'm requesting it.... Is it me or she has lack of professional skills? more

Open Question: 1976 Chevy Nova compatible differentials?

I have a 4 door 1976 chevy nova base model. My differential (i believe at least ha) has recently broken and rather than buying a new one for a lot of money, im going to look for one in a junkyard or online. What differentials are compatible with my car? What makes/models and between what years? It has a small block 305 V8. It has a limited slip differential. Im not sure what gears are in there now but i could find out if necessary. Also, is there anything else i should be replacing in addition to the differential? as far as im aware of, its just the differential thats broken and making this awful loud banging on every rotation of the wheels, and the whole car especially the rear end jerks quite a bit. It happened after making a left hand turn sort of hard, and my right wheel is the power wheel. I have done a couple brake torques to spin the tire recently, and trust me i plan to stop after this is fixed. How would i check for a broken axle i dont understand? And i suppose it could be possible that it has something to do with the fluid, because there is some kind of oil on the underside of the differential now. Maybe a broken seal? But i dont believe it would be p[ossible to drive it with a fluid change, because just driving it a few blocks to move it was horrible. The car was incredibly loud and jerked around a bit. also one time the cars brakes locked when i didnt even hit them, and the tires slid for a few feet, mind you this is only going at about 10-15 mph. im thinking it has something to do with the gears in the differential, like some teeth being broken or something and not catching on the rotation more

Resolved Question: 1999 Ford Expedition ABS light?

I own a 1999 Ford Expedition with a 4.6L, it is 2wd, and has 4 wheel disc brakes. The other day when i was backing out of the drive way the ABS light in the i nstrument cluster came on. So the next day i jacked it up and checked the brakes on the front, they were worn so i changed them and hoped the light would go back off and it didnt. What would cause this warning light to come on and what do i need to fix or change to make it go off or do i just need to reset it some how? thanks in advance for your help more

Hi, I have finally got the car going thanks to some great replies! I have got a couple of questions just to get me going! 1. Now the engine runs. Thats a start! It does however cut out when i go to accelerate? how do i stop this! 2. When i do accelerate the car doesnt move just stays there revving before it dies! The accerater servo does work after a good clean out so i can understand why this is! The cogs next to the engine spin and make all the 4 wheels go round. but seems it slips quite alot? Is this clutch problems? 3. How do i stop the car once the engine is runing! Silly question but could leave me stuck! Thanks again for all the help!
